Grammar, Spelling and Typographical Errors

  1. Read paper and make corrections for grammar, spelling (Canadian English) and other typographical errors.
  2. Insert comments to the author where questions arise, where something needs to be clarified, or where a citation needs to be entered.
 

Citations and References

Verify the accuracy of and ensure that all in-text citations and References list conform to APA style as outlined in the manual. See also Citations in Manuscript Text

 

Authors' Contact Details

Verify that the authors’ contact information is displayed as per the example in the manual, i.e., full spelling of United States of America and United Kingdom.

 

Creative Commons

Ensure the Creative Commons statement has been inserted.

 

Figures and Tables

Check labels for all Figures and Tables to ensure they are displayed as is noted in the manual.

 

Preferred Spellings

Note the list of common spellings in the manual. In particular use evidence based, not evidence-based, except in the case of quotations or references.

 

Article Headings - Style

  1. Ensure all headings conform to our style guidelines (i.e., first level in bold), and all significant words are capitalized. 
  2. Article titles in references should have only the first word and Proper Nouns capitalized. If there is a subheading, the first word after the colon or semicolon is also capitalized. 

 

Line Spacing

Ensure the article is formatted for spacing per the manual i.e.

  • with single spacing,
  • correct spacing between headings, and
  • no indentation (other than hanging indent for references).
