Editor in Chief

  • Journal marketing and promotion
  • Editorials (1 per issue)
  • Selection of Editorial Team members
  • Establishing production schedule
  • Soliciting articles for submission
  • Identifying and selecting items for News and Announcements
  • Securing Commentaries for each issue
  • Liaising with Guest Editors
  • Establishing/approving guidelines as needed (i.e., Editorial Advisor, Copyediting, etc.)
  • Editorial decision-making (i.e., submission assignments, acceptance/rejection, etc.)
  • Regularly communicates with the Editorial Board
  • Ensures that commentaries and news items meet copyediting and layout deadlines
  • Oversees author guidelines, copyediting guidelines and production guidelines
  • Ensuring adequate team of editorial advisors (peer reviewers)

 

Associate Editor, Articles

  • Selection of Editorial Team members
  • Accepts assignment of original research articles
  • Either accepts or rejects submission
  • Assigns 2 Editorial Advisors (after identifying information is removed).
  • Editorial decision-making (i.e., based on peer review comments and own evaluation, accepts, rejects, or requests resubmission or revisions of article)
  • Relays peer review comments/suggestions and editorial comments/suggestions to author as well as editorial decision
  • Makes editorial comments and suggestions, liaises with author regarding revisions
  • Assigns copyeditor once article has been accepted
  • Liaises with author regarding copyeditor comments and required edits
  • Approves final manuscript
  • Sends articles to Production Editor for layout
  • Approves final layout
  • Determines the order of articles for the Table of Contents
  • Regularly communicates with the Editorial Board
  • Ensures that necessary deadlines are met

 

Associate Editor, Evidence Summaries

  • Selection of Editorial Team members
  • Supervises team of Evidence Summary writers
  • Identifies published research articles for assignment to ES writers for appraisal and commentary
  • Assigns articles to ES writers
  • Either accepts or rejects submission
  • Assigns 2 Editorial Advisors (after identifying information is removed)
  • Editorial decision-making (i.e., based on peer review comments and own evaluation, either accepts, rejects, requests resubmission or revisions of Evidence Summary)
  • Relays peer review comments/suggestions and editorial comments/suggestions to author as well as editorial decision
  • Assigns copyeditor once Evidence Summary has been accepted
  • Liaises with author regarding copyeditor comments and required edits
  • Approves final manuscript
  • Sends Evidence Summaries to Production Editor for layout
  • Approves final layout
  • Determines the order of Evidence Summaries for the Table of Contents
  • Regularly communicates with the Editorial Board
  • Ensures that necessary deadlines are met

 

Associate Editor, Classics

  • Selection of Editorial Team members
  • Identifies classic articles for appraisal and commentary, either through personal identification or through reader identification
  • Secures author(s) for classic article appraisal and commentary
  • Either accepts or rejects submission
  • Assigns 2 Editorial Advisors (after identifying information is removed)
  • Editorial decision-making (i.e., based on peer review comments and own evaluation, either accepts, rejects, requests resubmission or revisions of article)
  • Relays peer review comments/suggestions and editorial comments/suggestions to author as well as editorial decision
  • Adds dates of receipt and acceptance to each manuscript
  • Assigns copyeditor once article has been accepted
  • Liaises with author regarding copyeditor comments and required edits
  • Approves final manuscript
  • Sends articles to Production Editor for layout
  • Approves final layout
  • Determines the order of articles for the Table of Contents
  • Regularly communicates with the Editorial Board
  • Ensures that necessary deadlines are met

 

Lead Copyeditor

  • Coordinates team of Copyeditors to ensure a smooth flow of copyediting within the editorial and publishing process
  • Answers and makes decisions regarding any questions on EBLIP copyediting policies and procedures 
  • Maintains and updates the EBLIP Publishing Manual
  •  Provides Copyeditors with the resources and support they need to accomplish their work
  • Ensures an even distribution of assignments among Copyeditors

 

Copyeditors

  • Accept or reject copyediting requests in timely manner
  • Utilize APA style guidelines and EBLIP Copyediting Guidelines
  • Ensure that proper grammar and spelling conventions are addressed
  • Verify each cited reference to the extent possible with available bibliographic resources and advises editor of any not checked
  • Add to each manuscript:
    • Journal Section header
    • Author(s) name, address, and email
    • Creative Commons statement
  • Complete copyediting by scheduled deadline for editor to check
  • Identify inconsistencies or changes in format/style as necessary
  • Ensure that updates to EBLIP Copyediting Guidelines are current and exhaustive

 

Production Editor

  • Ensure header contains correct issue/volume information and insert page numbers in the footer following from the last content worked on
  • Create PDF of item and upload as the “Galley” version
  • Finish issue using this process and use the “Future Issue” view to add the TOC pagination and set the issue order of the articles/content
  • Make edits and replace both Layout and PDF/Galley versions of the documents
  • When all edits have been made, “Publish” the issue
  • Let the Editorial Team know the issue has been published and send a message to all registered journal users using the “Notify Users” function in the “Editor” role
  • Add/delete users in OJS as directed by editorial team

 

Editorial Intern

  • Provide a final check of proofed copy before publication, using the predeveloped checklist
  • Check and edit the item metadata to ensure title, author and abstract correspond to manuscript
  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief with calls for papers, or calls for volunteers
  • Contact potential authors, asking them to consider submission to the journal
  • Assist with investigation and implementation of new projects related to the journal
